This has gone on for over two weeks. Close to three. I've thought I was losing my mind (ahem...that might actually still be true). I've thought I was just so miserable at parenting and being patient with my toddler - that I would, you know...break out in a fever and sweat like a faucet from the stress. Yeah. Right. Don't flatter yourself sweetheart, right? And no, I knew I wasn't eggo prego, because Auntie Flo was a' visitin'.
Well, I finally drug my sorry butt to the doctor. And I expected to get a little pat on the back and a "you're fine...stop being a loon". Instead I got a blood panel taken (MY FAVORITE THING EVER! - insert annoyed sarcastic chagrin here) and a phone call today to confirm - I have Mono. Oh. Yes. I. Do.
What I believed to be a "kissing disease" for pimply faced teenagers - turns out, to be another virus in a long line of viruses. And as with any virus, there is no "cure" per say. Other than, and I quote "lots and lots of rest" - the one commodity I just don't have.
I have no idea how I got it. I have no idea how long it will last. The verdict was weeks to months. Months? Months, people? SOB!
My husband feels he and Quint are doomed to get it - because it's highly contagious. It's just a sorry situation, I'll tell ya.
Meanwhile, it's kicking my booo-taaay. I could sleep 18 of the 24 hours out of the day and still be tired, I'm convinced! No amount of sleep seems to help right now. I'm yawning right now as I type this. Jeepers. This is for the birds.
But it explains so much. And I actually feel better that I have a diagnosis and I'm not losing my marbles thinking I "feel" sick. I actually am sick. Who knew?
Off to try and get lots and lots of "rest". Can't resist the quotation marks tonight.

Rest! Rest! Yes, my son had mono for months - he was only 7 years old! Mono is not only for the teeny-boppers!
Go nighty night!!
Jodi Sue :)
i know another mom that came back with it from ETH....I'll have to get her blog link and get back to you with it. If I remember correctly her daughter was a carrier without having it.
But I hope you feel better soon :)
Oh Christie I'm so sorry to hear that you are so very sick. Mono - yuck. I hope you are able to get the rest you need and the yucky sickness goes away in weeks and not months.
Feel Better Soon -- kelly :-)
Oh man, I really feel for you! I had Mono as a kid I missed/slept through most of Kindergarten. It was along time ago but I remember feeling just awful. I hope you are able to get some rest and recover quickly. I will be thinking of you and your family.
Get healthy soon (I wish it was that easy)
Hope you are feeling better soon!
Wowza!!! Sure hope you are better soon!! Get some rest!
Hope you are feling better very soon! Your son is quite the looker, BTW! :o)
No freaking way! Girl, only you would get something like mono. I'm so sorry - that royally sucks. Love you to pieces and get some rest! And don't forget that Auntie Erin is just a phone call away. :-)
Oh, that really stinks. :( I hope you feel better soon.
Bless your heart! I had mono back in college and still remember how it wiped me out. Get as much rest as possible and accept all offers of help!
So sorry! Get better soon and take all the help offered!
Girl, I'm sorry, that stinks! I wish I lived closer and coud help. Hugs and kisses and try to rest.
Oh dear!!! Not good! I hate to tell you this but I had mono in 2004 and ended up being off work for seven weeks. I think I lived on gatorade and yogurt the entire time. It's amazing how much sleeping a person can do! It took me at least a full year before I was back to semi back to normal (or what I figure is normal - at least).
Hang in there. Drink lots of fluids and get as much rest as you can. I know that's extremely tough with a little guy toddling around.
Take care!

Oh no, Hon! I'm sorry to hear that. I remember during grade school years, my sister had it and took a month off school. (Why did she get it, she actually liked school, well, the learning part anyway...?) I mever caught it from her.
I was wondering if AB "carried" it home from school. Maybe you all could be tested.....Once, our little J tested positive for strep, but was never "sick." I sure caught it though.
I wish I was there. I'd help you every day!
Love you, Sweetie!!
Christie, I was catchin up on all your posts, you are talented and busy woman.
This one hit me, becasue I have also been sick for going on 4 weeks and went to urgent care suspecting mono, but they are treating me for strep. Went to my primary yesterday and asked for blood test for mono...he thought no way do I have mono, but if I did, could have picked it up in China?
I'll keep you posted, but this falling asleep at the computer or while holding a baby and sitting upright struff has got to stop.
Love V
Yuck! That sucks. Hope you get better soon. :-)
